June 8th, 2010 2:27 am

Culinary arts education is luckily available throughout the world. A lot of culinary programs are already offered for you to choose from. According to a recent survey, the American Culinary Federation (ACF), which is the leader of standards for culinary professions, has already accredited more than 100 schools offering culinary programs. These programs are offered for people to enroll in and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary in the culinary field.

As mentioned, the culinary education begins by choosing a program. It is important to note that the culinary programs normally abide to the strict guidelines and rules maintained by the ACF. One of those rules is to cover approximately three years of culinary arts education with emphasis on implementing preparation and lab courses. This coverage is typically considered along with emphasis on sanitation, menu planning and cost, nutrition, as well as business.

There are also certain programs in culinary arts that are designed for those who wish to obtain an associate degree and certification in culinary. This area of culinary education is in the first place developed to provide the people the chance to develop their potentials in cooking. Also, the certifications are considered as an advanced form of culinary education that it is offered to ensure that the ones practicing the craft are good enough to be considered as professionals.

Another important part of the culinary education is the training or apprenticeship. The apprenticeship programs now come in great number, each features areas of study that are to some degree unique from the others. However, for the apprenticeship to be taken, the student taking up culinary education must have completed first a three years study which include both classroom instruction and work experience. And, knowing how important the apprenticeships are in culinary arts education, it is no wonder that today about more than 80 apprenticeship programs are already available.

The culinary arts education, with all the stages and requirements that needed to be considered, is very expensive. Yes, attending a culinary arts school can be one of the biggest investments you can ever make. But knowing how proper education is important in developing not just your knowledge in the craft, but your skills and talents, the total benefits of attending a culinary arts education outdo the price.

Oil Canvas Paintings – Create a Timeless Painting

When we walked into the museum the other day, we noticed some oil canvas paintings hanging on their wall. These were breathtakingly beautiful! We couldn’t seem to get them out of our mind. You see, we are a painter and love taking oil paint and putting a picture on canvas. We believe this really is art at its finest. There are so many techniques you can use with painting. If you have chosen to paint on canvas, then you have made a great choice. Canvas is a great choice as you can paint on it comfortable.

When used in the best quality, it is durable and stiff. The pigments used in oil paintings are special, which binds well with the oil that is being used as a base. Walnut oil or Linseed oil will work the best in this type of painting. There are times where resin can be added with the base oil. This type of product is known as varnish. In order to get that finished, glossy look, one would use varnish.

How do you prepare the canvas? You prepare the canvas by slightly stretching it and mounting it on your board with clamps. You then mix your paints with oil and leave it there for some time. This will give the paint some time to perfectly blend in with the oil.

When you are doing this type of painting, it is important that you steadily make the strokes, with measured pressure. If you put extra pressure on your brush, then you are going to smudge the color.

On another note, if you do not put enough pressure on it, the right amount of oil may not be absorbed into your canvas. In turns, this is going to shorten the life of your painting when you finish it. It is important to do this properly so that you get a high quality painting that will last for a very long time.

When you have completed the painting, it will be time to let it dry. Once it is finally dry, you can coat the painting with some clear lacquer. This is called varnishing. This will make the painting waterproof and is going to extend the life of the painting.

Once this process has been completed, it will be time to let the varnish dry. The colors are going to set perfectly as time passes. When the varnish finally dries up, it is going to leave your canvas with a glossy, smooth looking painting.

When it comes to creating oil canvas paintings, this can be an expensive task. If you do it successfully, it will leave you with a wonderful masterpiece to add to your collection. Many individuals paint on high quality canvas in order to create a good gift for someone that is close to them. With the right techniques at hand, you too will be able to do this. Once you get used to it, it really isn’t hard to do. As long as you have time and patience on your hands, you can master it!
